Haven't drawn these Elves since september. Anyway, After taking an anthropology class for 4 months I spent most of my time looking at hominid skulls, most of them without jaws. It gave the look of a face with HUGE eyes and a very small chin...
and then there was this skull:
A good couple of early hominids had that fin on their skulls. It was actually a muscle anchor and so no fin could actually be seen on the head when they're alive, but for anyone looking at the fossils of this guy, the first thing that come to mind is that the fin was even bigger with the flesh and hair over it. Like... you know this guy:
Not saying they were based entirely on fossils, but I did want to see what they would look like if I took that concept a bit further
