Attatchment
I got locked out of my house once, and had to climb through the window to get back in. The window frame dug into my leg as I climbed over, there was barely enough room for me to get through, and I barley avoided bashing my head against the dresser before I finally got in. I think that's something people don't take into account when they say that god opens a window whenever he closes a door.
So when a door is closed on me, even when it's slammed shut, I don't look for a window. Even when a thousand windows open around me, I stand at the door hoping it will open again soon. And I'll scratch at the door like a dog that doesn't know he's been abandoned.
I was nothing but a dog through that whole relationship. Just a stupid puppy that spilled my heart out to her the moment we met. And it's not like I didn't hold back either, there was a whole torrent of emotions I was holding back on. I'm so used to having to force my emotions out too. It was an amazing frustration having to hold them back for once.
It wasn't perfect. There were a lot of problems, but she was too nervous to bring them up, and I was to naive to notice them. I'm not gullible, but when I love someone I think the very best of them for as long as I can, even to to my own detriment.

That's how I wound up where I was back in march. I've been doing my best to move on and I've opened up to a great many people
...but I still keep my eye on that door.
Update:
Finally moved away from that door.

Less is more
Today I took the concept that drawings look more feminine when less detail is used, and decided to draw a woman using as few penstrokes as possible, while still making it recognizable.
The legs turned out pretty well I think. I could have manages this with even less lines, but I like the result I have.

Brian Green's Story: first scene
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxDm-36pvwA
Now we're making progress!
And my next final assignment in the class can be accomidated to finish this one.
The other students made some pretty great videos too. I'd have to get their permission to share them, though, So I'll only ask if you guys want me to.

Sketches! That's what your here for, right?
Today we have some Concept sketches for Magic 8 Ball Girl. It's the next best thing to the comic actually updating.
This is a dress I saw recently in the movie "A Single Man". It works really well for Stacie Spades. I wish I'd seen the movie earlier, It's a little late to put it in the comic.
Here's a Cyclops. He's not in magic 8 ball girl, but I didn't feel like rearranging the pictures today.
Also it gives these two something to get scared about.
I had 3rd Arc planned for Magic 8 Ball Girl, but I'll be lucky to finish the current one. It would have called for Ada getting a new design looking something like this (probably a little less Busy, though).
And this is just me as a kid.

A busy week
In an odd change of pace, I didn't bring my computer with me over spring break.
Here's what I managed to get done in that time:
I saw my neighbor with a neat looking hat just before leaving and jotted that one down pretty fast.
Saw this girl at the next stop, but I didn't quite catch her posture in time
The bus ride up to livermore was a long one, so I had a lot more time to practice legs and feet again.
Also tried drawing anything else in view. It was really long trip.
More Tall practice, although I ran out of paper for the feet... I have no Idea why I thought that shirt was a good idea.
You know what's hard to draw? semi curly long hair. I made it look to greasy in this, and it makes the girl look like gnome... in sweatpants.... ok, It's still kinda cute.
So, not having much to do, I went to the mall and started people watching
Mostly tried focusing on posture, but I didn't get too much time to practice this.
Admittedly, I went to the mall looking for a laptop or tablet, but didn't end up getting one just yet.
Decided then to put my practice to use and tried drawing magic 8 ball girl again, and also a rabbit.
So far this has been almost nothing but girls.
Playing rhythm heaven most of the week didn't help things much either.
Getting better at drawing beards with mouths.
I look kinda bitter in this.
And this is a bunch of sketches I made of people at the movies.
And the last thing I drew was Holly

More practice
I fucking love the way this face turned out. I've been trying hard recently not to just let the cheeks be Negative space on the face, and I think I hit my mark. I captured the unique face of this girl without making her lines to definite.
I need more practice on this one, but I kind of like the costume design here. I might draw more of this.

Memory fails me
I'm beginning to see how personal this cartoon is for me.
I forget people very easily. I'm impulsive, I'm social, and I don't get close to many people so I get along with everyone.
But when I do get close to someone, I still forget them easily. Danielle was my closest friend growing up, and when she moved it only took a few months to forget about her. It crushed me realizing that had happened.
I try hanging on to others. Tried as hard as hell to hold on to Delawyer, to Desserae, but they just get lost in a sea of knew faces every time. They disappear unless I cling to them; unless I hold on to them and never let go. But that just drives them away from me.

Steamboat Serena
I'm feeling a lot better, now. It's weird. It's like I've been in the protective bubble for the last few months.
And then the bubble starting closing in on me, and I panicked.
And then the bubble popped and everything was so painful.
But I couldn't stay in there forever.
...Ok, none of that had anything to do with this picture. MOVING ON!
DID YOU KNOW! Mickey Mouse will soon be public domain. I am both Excited and terrified at the consequences of this.

Guaranteed success
The animation class is going well. Admittedly it's become more of a time eater than I thought.
Luckily though my next assignment lines up pretty well with the last BBB project I was trying to work on.
So this should be a pretty good opportunity to finally get that done.
Here's some other quick sketches

Last 2 weeks
Here's some sketches from the last 2 weeks.
I'm getting a little more comfortable with framing around the shoulders at this angle, but I need more practice with live models. I should people watch more.
There's this contemplative look that I always confuse for sadness. It makes me worry about certain people over nothing.
I'm getting a little more comfortable with framing around the shoulders at this angle, but I need more practice with live models. I should people watch more.
So here's some sketches of people I saw while getting coffee in the morning.
So am I the only one who finds Thomas the Tank-Engine to be one of the scariest childrens shows ever made
It's a giant rubber pale human face on a lumbering industrial centipede like body
Just terrifying. What's wrong with you, Brittain?
Here are 2 people on a horse.

Hard Hat area
This was a little loop I've been sketching during lectures in my animation class.
I've had to draw with a mouse though. I also flew blind animating this and didn't give any attention to his body structure, so he ended up handing a worm like body.
I'm estatic with how the jaw ended up looking. You can almost see the skull as it moves around in the head and the mouth animation is almost hypnotic for me.
For a 2 second cartoon, I'm really satisfied with this one.

OH SHI-! A GARGOYLE!
Not sure there's much to say here. Ran out of room for the wings, but I drew what I could for it.
Love how the rib cage turned out, but the spine cheats out a bit too much when I should have relied more on foreshortening. In the end, just a lecture sketch. It does remind me how much I loved taking anthropology. I should see if they have any classes on that next semester.
I'm getting better at showing more definition in the face without making the person look too old. I used to avoid those details like the plague, but now I can't get enough of them.
Also getting better at drawing noses from different angles.
