Man! Between Getting Sick, Mario Galaxy, and finishing my fiction homework, November got completely lost from me.
BBB2's Lip synching finished earlier this week, but I'm adding little things here and there to fill up the story nice. I'll smack on a preloader and some author comments next week and ship it to Newgrounds then.
I gave the town the name of Catchy name city USA. It's only appropriate for a town with such a stupid bank name.

Look at who're returning
here's a new clip
You may remember these two from Vic and Sean's Past...
Wonder if they'll show up in any future work (you'll notice that they already provide an answer there.)

My Dev Gallery has been reorginized
I decided to try out that folder feature that deviant art just added. I think I'm getting the most out of it.
Feel free to check it out here.
I know this shouldn't count as today's sketch, but it just worked out that way. Give me a break, I'm still sick.

let's have none of this
I'm only hurting myself when I make this half effort sketches. And If I do it so often, that means I enjoy it, which makes me a masochist. "Shame on you," Says logic which makes this argument.
Beat Mario Galaxy already. Should leave time for finishing my cartoons... although playing as luigi is tempting...

Real sick, short sketch
Sickness pluss thanksgiving equals worthwhile nausia.Since taking my Anthropology college course I have seen PICTURE AFTER PICTURE AFTER PICTURE of homonid skulls. Most of them don't have jaws, and some of them have little fins (the fins were actually for anchoring jaw muscles, but they give off an odder look in fossile form.)
Anyway, I slowly began drawing Parralels between these skulls and the Elf Pokemon (who we haven't seen in a while): Early Hominids had a very protruding face and without the jaw it gives off the look of a human with HUGE eyes and a very small chin. Add to that the occasional appearance of the head fin, and the fact that most of these fossils are whitish, and I think we may have an idea of where Ken Sugimori Got the Design ideas for these Pokemon.
This is our biggest find since the Elephant sonic

Vic
This is how Vic (from "Not the Puppy," "Angry Albert," "Memory Fails Him," and "Ask PC") looks in his Canon storyline... well sort of.
I started drawing a girl, then I decided to draw Zidane from FF9, but then it became Vic. So the face and hair aren't quite what I want Vic to look like, but this is still pretty good.
Well, It's late and I promised myself I'd go to bed at 50 minutes ago for a while... look how that went. We'll see if I can't keep the promise tomorrow.

on a roll (slightly)
So between the Kanji Practice I've started doing (and will continue to do tomorrow), adapting an handwriting for English print based of Kanji practice, and understanding how much my Penmanship is linked to my Drawing style, I've really improved my art recently.
Not so much in pure quality, but I've definitely feel more in control of what I draw, and even though I've only used a mental image of what the framework looks like, I've been able to draw some pretty interesting poses and perspectives without going too off model or taking too long to do so. I managed to draw that Mario comic in a little under two hours, where-as that Ninja Pokemon Comic took an entire evening to do.
I still don't consider myself very good in terms of drawing, but I've got a firm idea of what direction I need to take, now, and I plan to take it farther.

Kanji...
For todays sketch I went through my old class book and drew the first 75 kanji... I got more handwriting practice from drawing these devils than I did from writing cursive, which caused it to have a huge effect on my drawing style.
I figured if I'm going to get better at my art I should get back into practicing these... god, 4 years ago, I hated doing this stuff. Curse you irony.
Maybe I should relearn them too, I only recognize 50 of those.
Also, here's another M8B Girl Pic

The Bunny... that bunny...
You know... for all the depth and history I've been working on for Brian and Bridgette lately... I have completely neglected this Bunny.
I really have to put more thought about who he is. Right now he's just the general mascot animal that looks cute, acts tough, and does a bunch of silly things that break up the story. He needs more motivation, and a more defined role in the future. I mean, he has the eating flesh part down, but there needs to be a little more.

Brian Red still in work
Well He's getting better, at least. This is Brian Red around the same age as Brian Green during BBB. At least for now. I'm still not quite happy with this design, but progress is progress.
How does Brian Red continue to be involved in the story after Green watches him die? Well Obviously something important. Frankly, I'm surprised none of you are wondering why these robots are growing with age.

Rethinking the bard remake
I learned a lot in finishing Legend of Luik.
-One thing I learned above all else, is you have to actually know what Your Animating before you animate it. I hit countless roadblocks in that project due to not really know why the person was doing something, or how they even looked. The only constant in that cartoon was the music it was animated too.
-Which brings me to the next thing I learned, which is audiences don't expect or want you to use the background music as the only constant during the production of your cartoon. It is much smarter to have a planned out story structure that builds up tension responsibly and has the music work for the animation as apposed to the other way around.
-One final thing I learned is that if your doing a project that is far too big for one person, for the love of god don't try to do it all yourself. I have friends who know how to animate or write or even compose, and they probably would have been willng to help with this, and even would have done a better job. Yes I still managed to get the job done, but it took two years to do, which is terrible for a 4 minute cartoon.
So if I try applying all of these factors... I think My Remake of "The Bard's Song" might just be a worthwhile project to revive.
The first thing I'm going to do is not use "The bards Song" as the background for this song. I'm going to write out a plot containing a begining, middle and end, along with a climactic moment, and I'm going to flesh out the characters until they have as much depth as the ones in Legend of Luik.
Only after that point, when I have all the writing for the project, will I seek out people who are interested in the final product to led their talents to this work. Lord knows I need help with the character designs, and I should be able to find a way to get help with the direct animation project, even if it's just emailing someone asking for advice on how specific shots should go.
First things first, I have a Bridgette Brian and the Bunny cartoon to finish.

Younger Brian Red
He looks like a girly little goth punk, but he's only like 7 or so, and he's surrounded by girls in his family.
For his pants I took this pair of pants I used to have as a kid that I really probably shouldn't have worn. I also gave him sandals, mainly to give him a kid Ikarus look, I don't know.
This is how he looks before Brian Green watches him die.

sloppy Blue and White Sketch
Blue has becoming a Fun character. My only Problem with her right now is her appearance is just Katharina from legend of Luik in slightly different dress. I've been thinking up some great scenes for her though, that I really want to animate in the future.
It just seems kind of weird, because I didn't think I had already added so many characters to BBB, yet this one is just thriving. Instead of being just another character, which is really how I resignedly added her, she's bounced off most of the characters and developed an insanely animate personality.
Only problem now is, of course if BBB keeps progressing at 5 min cartoons once per year, we are never going to get to these characters anyway.
